This is the guiding principle for the Swiss non-profit foundation myclimate – The Climate Protection Partnership. The foundation finds innovative answers for climate protection issues and is one of the leading providers of voluntary emissions/carbon offset measures.
It’s impossible to image modern life without air travel. However, SWISS knows that airplane emissions are being released, and it accepts responsibility for the environment.
SWISS's primary goal is to further reduce kerosene consumption and the resulting CO2 emissions. Between 2002 and 2013, SWISS has reduced its specific CO2 emissions by 19 per cent. Through on-going fleet modernisation and numerous measures in operative areas, SWISS seeks to achieve further successes in environmental balance. After introducing the new A330-300 between 2009 and 2011, a next major step is the introduction of the new regional aircraft CSeries Bombardier, scheduled to begin in 2015. Fuel consumption and resulting CO2 emissions are approximately 25% lower compared to the predecessor model.
With both organisations pursuing climate protection, myclimate and SWISS have found an ideal partnership. The non-profit foundation myclimate meets SWISS quality standards and ensures cost transparency. SWISS air passengers are offered the option of balancing the CO2 emissions created by the flight with a voluntary contribution (in the form of monetary value or miles).
